derbyshire wedding photographer

Hey there! Are you planning your Derbyshire wedding and picturing it all unfold amidst the stunning Peak District hills or the charming West Mill near Darley Abbey? I'm Chris Bunce, your friendly Derbyshire wedding photographer, and I'm here to capture those moments in a way that feels real, natural, and bursting with your unique love story.

Been around the block a few times! With nearly 17 years and 500 weddings of experience, I know how to blend in like a cool wedding guest, capturing genuine laughter, tears, and all the in-between magic without any awkward posing. Plus, having Derbyshire as practically my second home, I know all the hidden gems and epic backdrops to make your photos truly special.

Think less cheesy snaps, more timeless feels. My style is relaxed and mostly documentary, telling your love story through beautiful images that go beyond just staged smiles. Imagine candid moments, heartwarming interactions, and all the little details that make your day yours.

Here's the gist:

  • We chat beforehand: Let's get to know each other, understand your vision, and make sure I'm the perfect Derbyshire wedding photographer for your big day.
  • Packages that flex: Don't need all the bells and whistles? No problem! I offer options to fit your budget and ensure you get the coverage you crave.
  • Ninja mode activated: I'll be there, but you won't even notice me (except when you need me, of course!).
  • Gallery goals: Expect stunning, professionally edited photos that you'll want to frame, share, and cherish forever.
  • Stress-free zone: My calm and organised approach means you can focus on enjoying your day, knowing your memories are in good hands.

Ready to chat and make some magic? I'd love to hear about your Derbyshire wedding dreams! Get in touch and let's make your love story one for the books (and the photo albums!).

We hired Chris to take photos of our special day at Dovecliff Hall. Right from the word go Chris provided excellent communication and was always happy to offer useful suggestions to help us plan our day.

We had a number of meeting with Chris during the planning process where he talked us through how the day would run, he was happy to accommodate all specific photo requests as well as coming up with some of his own creative ideas on the day. We made special requests to disappear from the wedding reception during sunset to get some golden hour photographs which we definitely recommend! Chris is very good at making people feel comfortable in front of the camera which results in amazing and natural looking photos and he was really helpful on the day with timekeeping and making sure we were all where we needed to be at the right time.

We received our wedding photos sooner than expected shortly after our Honeymoon, one thing that we really liked about the online photo gallery is that all of the photographs from both photographers were time stamped, so all of the gallery appeared in chronological order; we could see what each party was doing at the time. Looking through our gallery was like reliving the day all over again!

"If you choose to go with Chris as your wedding photographer you can relax in the knowledge that on your wedding day all of the photography will be taken care of and you can just relax and enjoy your day!"

Extensive LOCAL experience

I love Derbyshire, the countryside, the cute towns, the rivers & reservoirs, the people and the wedding venues are stunning! I have been photographing in Derbyshire for almost 30 years, over half of that professionally. I have the experience to know where places are, where would be good for photos and which venues are the ones to go for.

Storytelling, Not Posing

My style focuses on natural moments and genuine emotions. I believe your wedding day should be filled with joy and spontaneity, not forced poses.

Experience You Can Trust

With almost 500 weddings photographed, I have the experience and expertise to navigate any situation while remaining unobtrusive.

memories that will last

I deliver high-resolution images that beautifully capture the magic of your day, allowing you to relive it for years to come.

Personalised Approach

I take the time to understand your vision, preferences, and unique story. This ensures your photos reflect your personalities and the special moments that matter most.

Flexible Coverage

I offer a flexible approach to my photography whether you're looking for full-day coverage or more intimate packages. Let me know what you are looking for and I can put together a package for you.

Unforgettable Experience

I pride myself on creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for you and your guests, letting you enjoy your wedding day to the fullest and not worrying about being constantly on show!

not just a photographer

Mary Poppins with a Camera is a name I have been particular proud of over the years. After almost 500 weddings you get to know what is useful to have with you i.e. a crochet hook for the dress, blister pads, spare cufflinks etc. It also teaches you things like how to tie a good full Windsor knot or how to lace a corset backed dress!

Why should we book you as our Derbyshire wedding photographer?

Why choose an experienced Derbyshire wedding photographer?

My approach goes beyond just capturing snapshots. I strive to document the heart and soul of your wedding, telling your unique story through images that evoke emotions and memories. This means immersing myself in your celebration, getting to know you as a couple, and anticipating those candid moments that truly reflect your personalities. From the joyful tears during your vows to the laughter shared with loved ones on the dance floor, I'll be there to discreetly capture the essence of your Derbyshire wedding day. I also step out of the traditional role of a photographer and work closely with any management/planning staff to ensure your day works as smoothly as possible, removing as much stress and unnecessary faff. This allows you to relaxed and enjoy your wedding day to the max, which will be captured in my photographs.

Choosing an experienced Derbyshire wedding photographer like myself brings distinct advantages. I possess an extensive understanding of Derbyshire's diverse locations, from historical landmarks to hidden gardens, allowing me to utilise the area's unique charm as a backdrop for your wedding story. Whether you seek the elegance of Tissington Hall or the outstanding beauty of the Peak District, I'll guide you to stunning settings that enhance your wedding aesthetic and tell your love story visually. Additionally, having local connections enables me to navigate unforeseen situations smoothly, ensuring your peace of mind on your special day.

Tissington Hall, in the heart of the Peak District, strikes the perfect balance between historical grandeur and relaxed contemporary sophistication. With all the grounds at your disposal and also the house itself for couple's photos, there is definitely plenty of photo opportunities here. Normally opened to the public, on your wedding day it will be exclusively yours so only your guests will photobomb!

Nestled amidst the scenic Derbyshire countryside, The West Mill offers a unique and captivating setting for your wedding day. The charm of the West Mill grabbed me the first time I got to photograph here and I've loved every time I have shot here since. You still have some greenery and the River Derwent running past but with all the extra industrial elegance to go with it.

Escape the ordinary and celebrate your love amidst the picturesque countryside charm of Grangefields! This exclusive-use wedding venue, tucked away on the historic Trusley Estate, invites you in to celebrate your day in style, surrounded by stunning fields and buildings. As it is owned by the famous Cripps brand, you know the food is going to be amazing and the staff are just on point all day!

Another favourite venue of mine, Shottle Hall, in the middle of the Derbyshire countryside, near Belper. There is so much land to explore and also the old barns and buildings if it is a bit wet. The rooms upstairs are a brilliant backdrop for the preparations for your big day and then the star lined ceiling of the orangery really adds some splendour to your day.
