Capturing Love and Laughter: Cali and Nathan's Whimsical Wedding at Donington Park Farmhouse
I was recommended to Cali by her friend, whose wedding I photographed a pre-Covid. We met up for a pre wedding shoot along The Roaches in the Peak District on a stunning evening, where we got to know each other better and got some amazing photos. Then as an experienced Donington Park Farmhouse Photographer, it was fantastic to be back shooting at this amazing venue. Situated in North West Leicestershire, near East Midlands Airport, Donington Park Farmhouse served as the idyllic backdrop for Cali and Nathan's wedding. The charming venue, with its rustic elegance, added a touch of timeless beauty to the day. The beautiful weather only enhanced the charm, making it a day to remember.
Intimate Celebrations
With Covid-19 restrictions in place, Cali and Nathan decided to have an intimate gathering, with just 30 close friends and family. Everyone came together to celebrate the love between the couple and despite having to wear masks indoors, you could still see the love they all had for Cali & Nathan.
A Blue Dream
The colour blue was chosen as the theme for the day, with the bridesmaids looking resplendent in navy blue dresses and table decorations adorned with blue accents. This colour choice added a touch of elegance and depth to the wedding's overall aesthetic.
Unique Style Choices
Cali made a stunning entrance in a pair of white boots under her beautiful one shouldered dress, setting her apart from the traditional bridal look. Later, she also donned a "Bride" leather jacket, a unique and stylish addition for the couple's afternoon photos. These unconventional choices added a touch of fun and personality to their wedding.
Candid Moments
One of the highlights of the day was escaping with Cali and Nathan to capture some fun and candid photos. These moments of togetherness allowed for genuine emotions and laughter to shine through, creating unforgettable memories for the couple.
Dinner in the Pig Sties
The dinner and speeches took place in the unique setting of the Pig Sties at Donington Park Farmhouse. This rustic and charming location added a touch of quirkiness to the festivities, making it a day truly unique to Cali and Nathan.
A Sparkling First Dance
With the beautiful weather at their disposal, I suggested the couple have their first dance and party outdoors in the courtyard. This would avoid the need for guests to wear masks and we could all enjoy the beautiful June evening. Guests formed a circle around the couple, each holding sparklers, creating a magical atmosphere that perfectly complemented the setting sun.
Embracing the Sunset
As the sun began to set, Cali, Nathan and I seized the opportunity for more stunning photos. Their competitive spirit came to life as they playfully raced each other. Cali, in her dress and boots, ran at full speed, resulting in laughter and candid moments that perfectly captured the essence of their love.
